A warm welcome to all the 3rd Football Australasia conference to be held appropriately at Telstra Dome, the venue of many memorable games of football of all four major codes including AFL, the A-League Grand Final, Rugby World Cup and Rugby Leagues.
This series of conferences has continued to grow in its vision to the
point where we are seriously embracing all codes of football from around
Australia, New Zealand and our regional neighbours in Asia. In this way,
it is a unique conference with great potential.
The theme of this conference, Sharing Knowledge across the Codes,
recognises the growth of all codes of football and the opportunity we
have for learning from each other. Sports medicine and science has developed
along different streams in each code and much can be learnt from these
various perspectives to the problems we face. We also must recognise the
growing numbers of women playing football and the different challenges
this provides.
Again the format of the conference will be tailored to set challenges to invited speakers and researchers to answer some of the questions faced by sports medicine and science practitioners every day when working in football. This will be complimented by active debate in which all codes will be involved. Papers will be invited specifically along the lines of topics set by the scientific committee.
The conference is also proud to join with the Australasian
College of Sports Physicians for its 23rd annual conference which
will precede Football Australasia 2008.
We look forward to meeting you at this exciting venue for Football Australasia 2008.
